Aryan Khan arrested in drug case: What we know so far

Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was on Sunday arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)  after a raid was conducted on a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast in which Aryan and others were heading to Goa. Besides the son of the Bollywood star, some of his close friends including Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha, Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chhoker, and Gomit Chopra were also detained. The NCB detained Aryan and questioned him regarding his presence in the rave party that was busted on a Saturday night. Here is what we know about the raid conducted by the NCB and the arrest of Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan’s Aryan Khan:

On Saturday evening, the Goa-bound Cordelia cruise ship was raided by a team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) headed by the zonal director Sameer Wankhede after the team received a tip-off that a party was scheduled on board.

An official who was part of the raid conducted by the NCB told the media that NCB officials booked tickets and boarded the cruise ship posing as passengers.

In a statement, NCB said drugs like ecstasy, cocaine, mephedrone, and charas were recovered from the cruise and a case had been registered. The agency said eight people, including two women, were apprehended and their role was being investigated.

The officials revealed that the suspects from Bollywood, fashion, and the business sectors had hidden the drugs in their clothes, undergarments, and purses, during the operation.

After the raid and the detention of the Aryan Khan and 7 other people. Crew members, several event organizers, and some foreign nationals have also come under the NCB raider.

As per the sources of News 18, a Delhi-based event company is believed to have organized the parties on passenger cruises on October 2, 3, and 4. And the same entity supplied most drugs for the party on the cruise ship, while the LSD busted from the raid was procured online.

The cruise was supposed to depart at 2 pm from Mumbai and return at 10 am on October 4 after sailing in the Arabian Sea

The anti-drug agency has registered a first information report (FIR) in connection with the rave party on the cruise ship. Those detained by the NCB will be produced in court later in the day after they complete the legal formalities.

The case against Aryan Khan is “strong” and he has been reportedly arrested under Section 22 of the NDPS Act thay says anyone who possesses, sells, purchases, transports, or uses any psychotropic substance shall face rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year with fine.

Aryan and 7 other people who have been detained after the raid can also be charged under Section 27, section 28,  section 64, Section 20 (b), Section 21(a) and sections 29 (dealing with abetment and conspiracy), section 35 (which presumes culpable state) and section 30 (which states that a person preparing to carry out offenses involving commercial quantities of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance shall be presumed to be guilty).
