Air Quality Drops to 'Severe' in Sections of Delhi, Raising Concerns

Days after the lifting of GRAP-III due to a slight improvement in Air Quality Index (AQI), the air quality in the national capital deteriorated again on Thursday afternoon, with several monitoring stations entering the 'severe' category.

At Anand Vihar, the air quality was in the 'severe' category, with PM 2.5 at 428, PM at 433, and NO2 at 103, in the 'moderate' category. The AQI at ITO also remained in the 'severe' category, with PM 2.5 reaching 447 and PM 10 at 403.

Punjabi Bagh recorded PM 2.5 at 441 and PM 10 at 407, both in the 'severe' category. Jahangirpuri air quality monitoring station also entered the 'severe' category, with PM 2.5 at 466 and PM 10 at 444. The CO level was recorded at 101, in the 'moderate' levels.

At Okhla Phase-II, the AQI was in the 'severe' category, with PM 2.5 at 411 and PM 10 at 405. The CO level was at 106, in the 'moderate' levels. Mundka recorded 'severe' air quality, with PM 2.5 at 401 and PM 10 at 303, in the 'very poor' category.

Bawana's air quality was in the 'very poor' category, with PM 2.5 at 375 and PM 10 at 282, in the 'poor' category. The AQI monitoring station at Dwarka sector 8 recorded PM 2.5 at 400 and PM 10 at 321, both in the 'very poor' category.

At the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport station, the AQI plummeted with PM 10 at 377, in the 'very poor' category, while PM 2.5 was at 288, in the 'poor' levels. The CO level was recorded at 21, indicating 'good' air quality.
