Delhi's Air Quality Remains 'Severe' Despite Continued Efforts

Delhi's persistent struggle with severe air pollution continues, despite the implementation of GRAP-III and multiple measures taken by city authorities. The situation remains concerning, evident from the latest air quality readings across various monitoring stations in the city.

At the Anand Vihar area, PM2.5 levels stood at an alarming 476, categorized as 'severe,' while PM10 reached 468. CO levels dropped to 108, and NO2 was recorded at 152, classified as 'moderate' by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

The severity of the issue becomes more evident with readings from other areas. The Bawana station reported PM2.5 at 447 and PM10 at 443, both in the 'severe' category, although CO levels were noted as 'satisfactory' at 80.

At the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport T3, PM2.5 levels reached 371, and PM10 stood at 316, both falling within the 'very poor' category.

Monitoring stations like ITO displayed PM2.5 at 425, categorized as 'severe,' while PM10 touched 369, indicating 'very poor' air quality levels. Similarly, at the Dwarka sector-8 station, air quality was classified as 'severe,' with PM2.5 at 449 and PM10 at 418.

Okhla Phase-II recorded 'very poor' levels with PM2.5 and PM10 at 373 and 319, respectively. These consistently high pollution levels underscore the urgent need for immediate and effective measures to combat the environmental challenges in the national capital, ensuring the health and well-being of its residents.
