The Indian Army has fitted the LoC area with landmines to prevent infiltration by the terrorists.

Besides night vision devices, electronic surveillance and human preparedness, the landmines are an important part of the anti-infiltration mechanism in J&K.

Usually the area close to the LoC is called 'no man's land' thereby signalling that nobody should tread on this land.

Security forces and Indian Army have kept a tight vigil along the LoC and hinterland in J&K, as very little snowfall in the current season has made all mountain routes available to terrorists across the UT.

Union Home Minister, Amit Shah recently presided over a high-level security meet on J&K.

Home Minister has reportedly asked the security forces to provide 'zero infiltration' and to have 'zero tolerance' to terrorists.

There had been a political storm in J&K in the aftermath of ex-serviceman's killing as the local politicians of the ruling National Conference, Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party condemned the Centre for claiming normalcy in the UT.
