Mark Zuckerberg: The Social Media Wizard

Mark Zuckerberg was born in New York into a well educated family and at an early age, he developed an interest in computer programming. As a student at Ardsley High School,  Mark was an excellent student in the class. He got many prizes in mathematics, astronomy, physics, and classical studies.

We have all been using Facebook for more than a decade now, and it has become a part of our social life. But have you ever wondered who is the brain behind this wonderful social networking site? It is Mark Zuckerberg - the founder, Chairman and CEO of Facebook.


Mark Zuckerberg was born in New York into a well educated family and at an early age, he developed an interest in computer programming. His parents are Karen, a psychiatrist, and Edward Zuckerberg, a dentist and he has three sisters, Randi, Donna, and Arielle.

As a student at Ardsley High School,  Mark was an excellent student in the class. He got many prizes in mathematics, astronomy, physics, and classical studies. Later he transferred to a private school- Phillips Exeter Academy.

Zuckerberg also knows many different languages and he can read and write in French, Hebrew, Latin, and Ancient Greek.

During middle school, Mark had started using computers and writing software and by the age of merely 12, he had already built a messaging app named Zucknet.

This established him as a  go-to computer programmer among his peers. As a New Yorker profile once said, 'some kids played computer games. Mark created them.'

After completing his graduation from Mercy College, Zuckerberg worked in a company named Intelligent Media Group where he was trying to build a music player called the Synapse Media Player. This media player received ratings 3 out of 5 by PC Magazine.

In 2004 he created a social networking site with the help of fellow Harvard students called 'The Facebook' and by the end of 2005, Facebook reached 5.5 million users.

From being an average New York City guy, Mark Zuckerberg today has the net worth of $78 billion.


Not only a successful mind but Mark has a kind heart as well, he is a part of the Giving Pledge foundation which means he will donate 50% of his net worth to philanthropic causes before he dies.
