Singer Sonu Nigam recorded "one of the most difficult days" of his life on record as he fought through severe back pain before his Pune show. In a video posted on Instagram, Sonu was spotted writhing in pain while his team attended to him backstage.

"Sarasvati ji did hold my hand last night," wrote the 'Dil Dooba' singer alongside the video, which showed him lying on a bed. The clip also featured the 51-year-old struggling to stand straight backstage, attempting to stretch his back before returning to the stage. Despite the pain, the video also captured him dancing while performing his song "Bijuria."

However, the singer admitted that his dancing might have worsened his condition. He said, "One of the most difficult days of my life, but very fulfilling. I was thinking, gaate gaate jhatka dete hai na (While singing, we dance), that can also trigger the spasm. But I managed somehow. I never want to do less or give less when people expect so much from me. Ho gaya acha (It went well). I'm glad. This shaped up fine."
 

Describing his ordeal, Sonu added, "The pain was excruciating—it felt like someone had placed a needle near my spine, and even the slightest movement would pierce it deeper. It was really bad."

As Sonu shared the video, singer Shaan appreciated how dedicated he has been to both his craft and his fans as he commented: "Maa Saraswati has your back, brother! But your commitment to your fans and your profession is why her blessings will always be with you! (I know you have been dealing with this back issue for years now. I have seen you in pain, so I can imagine what this must've been like) (sic)."

Singer Sudesh Bhosle also reacted to Sonu Nigam's post as: "Who wishes well for the people and has the blessings of #Mahadevji, knows how to rise again after falling. Dear @sonunigamofficial, lots of good wishes (sic)."

He has sung more than 4,000 songs in multiple languages in a career of over 32 years, making him one of the most celebrated playback singers in Indian music history.
