Pop icon Taylor Swift is coming out in support of the current Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, in the latter's presidential race for the upcoming November 5 US elections.
The singer-songwriter has now given a formal endorsement to Kamala Harris after the latter's debate with Donald Trump, through a strong message which she posted on her Instagram Story, per 'Variety'.
Swift: "The vice president fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos".
Per Variety, Swift said in an Instagram Story post: "Like so many of you I watched tonight's debate. If you haven't already, now's a great time to research the issues and stances of these candidates - each one fighting to be the future President - the ones who stand up for what YOU believe in. As an American voter, I value being well-informed about their policies and proposed plans for this country".
She added, "Recently, I was made aware that AI of 'me' - falsely endorsing Donald Trump's presidential run - was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth".
She surely did proclaim her candidate of choice, as Swift said, "I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos" .
Swift said that she was impressed by the selection of Kamala to run for Vice President Tim Walz who has been standing up for LGBTQ rights, IVF, and a woman's right to her own body for decades.
"I've done my research, and I've made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. Also, first of all: remember, if you want to vote, you must be registered! Also, it's definitely way easier to vote early. I'll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story. She signed the message, "With love and hope, Taylor Swift… Childless Cat Lady".
