"My journey in fashion has come a long way. I do make sure that ample time is invested in making every piece perfect for me," Bollywood's dapper dude Sidharth Malhotra said.
How exactly would he describe his fashion game? "I am drawn towards classic silhouettes, but with a subtle element of masculine edginess. My sense of style is more about ease rather than being too styled," Sidharth said to IANS.
It's all about the perfect fit for Sidharth, who made his debut in 2012 with Student of the Year and was later seen in hit films like Ek Villain, Kapoor & Sons, and Shershaah, to name a few.
"Fit is certainly essential for me, and I ensure to invest time in making sure each piece is tailored to perfection," said Sidharth, who began his career as a fashion model.
"My fashion journey has been all about change, and the kind of change that I could absorb is the versatility that came out of the numerous characters that I played on screen. Though these roles have taught me varied styles and eras, my aesthetics tilt towards a more understated elegance," the 39-year-old said.
First came Sidharth into the world of cinema, as an AD during the making of the Karan Johar film My Name Is Khan. He understands that there is a particular allure of the glamour at certain characters.
"But my everyday style majorly prioritizes comfort and ease. After all, my on-screen wardrobe is eventually a collaborative process, very intrinsic to the character's narrative and the visual world of film," he said.
The star, who through his sartorial choices, has redefined the case for men's style minced no words when it came to men trying out different things as much as women do with their wardrobes.
Asked if he concurred that when it comes to men's fashion, there's not as much to experiment on as that in the women's, Sidharth says, "I completely disagree with that eye.
He said that the men's fashion industry had changed dramatically, and now there are so many options, from fast fashion to high-end luxury.
"Today, men have access to styles and trends that are diverse, giving way for so much personal expression. It's all about intention in our choices and how we style ourselves. We no longer should bend or succumb to traditional notions in menswear," offered the star.
The actor appreciated the efforts by the designers to go a notch higher when it comes to men's wear.
"Designers are pushing boundaries, creating the type of pieces that meet different aesthetics and personalities. From street wear to tailoring, the possibilities are insane. It's an exciting time for men to experiment and find what best resonates with them," said the actor.
