Actress Khushi Mukherjee has finally spoken out about the comparisons constantly made between herself and online sensation Uorfi Javed.
Speaking graciously, Khushi explained that her unique fashion sense is her own and not copied from anybody else.
Rejecting accusations of copying, Khushi described her style strategy. "I never copied actress Uorfi Javed in terms of style. I trim my clothes anywhere and everywhere so that they appear distinct. I don't do it to seek attention," she added.
Going more in-depth about her own fashion philosophy, she explained that her changes of outfits come from innovation, not provocation.
"I want it to be about something about me—not someone else. I'll cut a sleeve, a collar, or even the whole bottom half of a dress if I feel like it. It's not rebellion. It's just the way I personalize something," she continued.
The actress also addressed the pitfalls of being a woman in the spotlight, especially when originality gets overshadowed by endless comparisons.
"Being a woman in the spotlight usually equates to being reduced to comparisons—specifically style," Khushi explained, expressing frustration that she is not given credit for what makes her unique.
In response to repeated references to Uorfi's name along with her own, she underlined the individuality of each artist's path. "Uorfi has her own path. I have mine," Khushi responded. "Why is it so difficult to believe that two women can be creative and not one imitating the other?"
Professionally, Khushi is ready to be a part of the soon-to-be-launched reality show The Society, presented by comedian and actor Munawar Faruqui. Expressing her excitement, she said, "It's a very special feeling. I am very excited to be a part of this show and I really can't wait for the audience to see me in a new avatar."
Looking back at her recent experience, she went on to say, "The past few months, I have experienced both the highs and lows of popularity. Although there have been some who have been there for me as a rock-solid support, numerous people have done a great deal in bringing me down."
Khushi's blunt comments not only represent her confidence in her personal sense of style but also draw attention to the larger point that women of show business are pitted against one another instead of being celebrated for their uniqueness.
