Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan, whose series of blockbuster performances during the last two and half decades has earned him a reputation as a pan-Indian star, is set to make a significant quantum leap in his career—as a director.
While touring the United States currently to commemorate his 25 years in Indian cinema, Hrithik formally announced he will be helming the much-awaited Krrish 4, which will be his directorial debut.
The surprise was while attending a function in Atlanta, when Hrithik was presented with an old picture of himself behind the camera. Looking back on his early days in the shooting of a movie, he said, "This was on a film named 'Koyla'. That was the first time that I ever did something behind the camera—I directed the production of 'Koyla'. And here I'm going behind the camera again. Good luck to me."
Acknowledging the daunting new role, he added candidly, “I can’t tell you all how nervous I am. I’ll need all the encouragement I possibly can get.”
The Krrish franchise, built and developed throughout the years by his father, director Rakesh Roshan, has been a career-defining element for Hrithik. With Rakesh having finally passed on the reins to his son officially, one waits with bated breath for the next installment of India's favorite superhero series.
Hrithik also surprised fans with new news regarding his next action-thriller War 2, in which he will be starring alongside Telugu superstar Jr. NTR. Talking about working with him, Hrithik stated, "My favourite co-star is actually Jr. NTR. I just worked on War 2 with him and he is incredible. He is brilliant, such a fine teammate. I think we have done something good and I cannot wait for you all to see it, 'War 2', 14th August."
He announced that just one song remains to be shot before the film finishes up, and further said, "The song that we will shoot is with Jr. NTR and I'll go back and complete it. I hope I am good. But this film is going to be bigger and better than part 1, that's my guarantee to you. So wish me luck.
Hrithik recently injured himself while rehearsing for the last War 2 song, resulting in a brief halt in shooting. The movie is being directed by Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji and is produced by Yash Raj Films as the sequel to the 2019 hit film War.
As he moves into new turf as a filmmaker and comes back as a protagonist in one of India's biggest sequels, Hrithik Roshan is all set to remake himself—and Bollywood—on his own terms, again.
