The countdown for one of the year's biggest action blockbuster releases has started officially. On Thursday, the producers of War 2 released powerful new posters with lead stars Hrithik Roshan and NTR, picturing the two in intense, battle-hardened avatars.
Both are looking intense, setting the tone for what is already shaping up to be an unrelenting box-office showdown.
Hrithik Roshan posted his poster on Instagram, where he is pictured mid-fight, gun in hand and sporting visible battle marks—cuts above his eye and forehead—suggesting a ferocious fight. Below the picture, Hrithik captioned:
"This time he's ruthless, merciless, relentless and ready for WAR! Are you? The countdown begins now. #50DaystoWar2."
NTR also went to social media to unveil his appearance from the movie. Firing bullets with gritty resolve, his poster depicts the raw energy of a man trapped in an intense war.
"Bet you haven't ever seen a WAR like this! Let's count it down #50DaysToWar2. Releasing in Telugu, Hindi & Tamil on Aug 14th in cinemas all across the world!" he tweeted, tagging Hrithik Roshan, co-star Kiara Advani, director Ayan Mukerji, and referencing the #YRFSpyUniverse.
War 2 is the latest entry in the YRF Spy Universe, which boasts smash hits such as Pathaan, Tiger 3, and the 2019 blockbuster War. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, the sequel offers high-octane action, stunning visuals, and a rich IMAX experience when it releases theatrically worldwide on August 14.
Talking about his dream for the film, Ayan Mukerji had previously stated that working on War 2 was a challenge and an opportunity.
"I felt directing War 2 was a thrilling chance to pay a hat-tip to the original film. You cannot have fun otherwise while joining such a big blockbuster franchise," he added.
Accepting the responsibility that came with the project, he mentioned that it's a big task to take over a franchise so popular. Ayan mentioned that creating a strong narrative was his top priority, particularly as the film sets up two blockbuster actors—Hrithik Roshan and NTR—against one another.
"I wanted a conflict that was big enough to justify this showdown," he said.
With only 50 days remaining, War 2 has set the nation afire. The movie will hit screens in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil, promising to become a national spectacle and a strong addition to the growing spy-action universe constructed by Yash Raj Films.
