This is after A. R. Rahman, the Oscar-winning composer, and his wife Saira Banu announced their decision to divorce after being together for 29 years of marriage. He penned a heart-felt note saying that it was a 'shattering' decision as they had hoped to attain the "grand thirty.
Discussing how their relationship saw an 'unseen end,' Rahman took to X, formerly called Twitter, and wrote: "We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again."
"To our friends, we thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter. #arrsairaabreakup"
It was on November 19 that the news about A. R. Rahman and Saira Banu parting ways started doing the rounds after the latter issued a statement over the divorce.
It is reported that Saira cited emotional strain as the cause behind their divorce. This was the reason for an insurmountable gap between the couple.
Saira's lawyer Vandana Shah has released an official statement regarding the couple's decision to separate.
It says the couple has decided to finally separate after many years of marriage. Mrs. Saira has separated from her husband, Mr. AR Rahman, after long emotional stress. Despite the deepest love in the world between them, a gap created by tensions and difficulties has become too great for either of them to be able to bridge at this point of time.
"Mrs Saira said that this decision has been taken out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira appeals to the public to respect her privacy and understand her plight in these trying times, while going through one of the most trying episodes of her life," it said.
It was in 1995 that Rahman and Saira got married under an arranged marriage. They have daughters Khatija and Raheema and a son Ameen.
Composed by Ameen: AR Ameen, the son of Rahaman, who is also a singer, posted the request for respect to privacy on Instagram's Stories section.
He posted, "We humbly request everyone to respect our privacy at this hour. Thank you for your understanding.
