The announcement came on Tuesday that Bollywood icon Akshay Kumar has joined the cast of Vishnu Manchu's upcoming film "Kannappa".
Although specifics regarding Kumar's character remain undisclosed, this venture marks his first foray into Telugu cinema.
Manchu, essaying the titular role in "Kannappa", took to his official X page to share the news of Kumar's inclusion.

Based on a true narrative, the forthcoming movie chronicles the fervent devotion of Kannappa towards Lord Shiva.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced under Manchu's banners AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory, "Kannappa" boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Preity Mukhundhan, Mohanlal, Prabhas, Mohan Babu, R Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Madhoo, and Mukesh Rishi. The film is slated for release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English.
Kumar, fresh from the action-packed release "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan", joins this exciting cinematic venture.
