UK school disruption amid Covid worst since WWII: Report
In the report published on Wednesday, the Institute for Government, an independent think-tank which aims to improve government effectiveness through research and analysis, said the government's failure to make contingency plans for schools and exams in the summer of 2020 was the most "unforgivable aspect" of its handling of education during the pandemic, reports Xinhua news agency.
Despite pandemic, record number of foreign students knock on UoH doors
In the current academic year, the UoH has received a total of 1,512 applications from ICCR -- a 5 to 6 fold increase compared to the last few years. Apart from this, about 45 applications have also been received from self-supporting foreign nationals. The Vice-Chancellor of UoH, Prof. B. Jagadeeshwar Rao, expressed happiness at the large number of applications received this year.
DU announces no hike in admission fee
Due to Covid-19 infection, the income of many people have shrunk while several people have lost their jobs so the varsity has decided not to increase the admission fees for students. Apart from this, DU has also announced a major relief measure for the students. "If any student wants to withdraw his/her name after paying the admission fee, DU will refund the complete fee."
NEP rearrangement to see Andhra's schools rise to 58,000
Officials apprised Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of this on Wednesday as he reviewed the NEP in the state. Under the NEP, schools have been classified into six categories from pre-primary (PP) to Class 12 - satellite schools (PP-1 and PP-2) foundation schools (PP-1 to Class 2), foundation plus schools (PP-1 to Class 5), pre-high schools (PP-1 to Class 7), high schools (Classes 3-10), and high school plus (Classes 3-12).
Class 9 and above to function in Bihar from Friday
The crisis management committee, in its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, formulated certain guidelines under 'unlock 5', including making schools operational with 50 per cent attendance of students above class 9 from August 6. It will assess the situation and is most likely to open schools from Class 1 to 8 after August 15.
UP's Kumar Vishwas Singh scores 100% in CBSE Class 10
A student of Vidyagyan School, he has got full marks in both theory and practical. The subjects in which Kumar has scored 500 out of 500 include English, Hindi, Mathematics, Social Science and Artificial Intelligence. Interestingly, Kumar Vishwas did not follow any fixed or regular timetable throughout the year. Kumar said the Covid-19 pandemic in fact emerged as an an "opportunity" for him.
CBSE Class 10 Results: 100% KV students clear exams
All students of KVs passed the exam, posting a 100 per cent pass percentage. According to CBSE, this year the results of both Classes 10 and 12 in KVs have been cent per cent. Similar to Class 12 results, a large number of students -- 57,824 -- have secured 95 per cent and above marks in their Class 10 exams.
Britain invites applications for Chevening scholarship
The Chevening scholarships offer full financial support for one year to candidates applying for a master's degree at any UK university -- covering nearly 12,000 courses from in than 150 universities. The scholarship will cover tuition fees for the selected course; travel expenses and visa fees; and a monthly stipend, a statement by the British High Commission said here.
CBSE class 10 results out, 99.04% students declared passed
In the CBSE class 10 board results, 99.04 per cent students were declared passed. The pass percentage of boys is 98.89 per cent and that of girls is 99.24 per cent, which is 0.35 per cent more than that of boys.As much as 98.19 per cent students in the Delhi region have passed the CBSE class 10 board exams. The pass percentage of foreign students is 99.92 per cent .
Indian-American schoolgirl Natasha Peri in Johns Hopkins' world's 'brightest' list
"Peri, a student at Thelma L. Sandmeier Elementary School, was honoured for exceptional performance on the SAT, ACT, or similar assessment taken as part of the CTY Talent Search," said a statement from Johns Hopkins CTY. "CTY uses above-grade-level testing to identify advanced students from around the world and provide a clear picture of their true academic abilities."
