DU to increase college seats, cut-offs likely to soar
The admission process will be strictly online. DU Vice-Chancellor P.C. Joshi said, it is true that this year a large number of students have secured good marks in Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE). "We have full respect for the results released by the CBSE and other state boards. The seats in colleges can be increased if required," he said.
Seven new academic programmes at IIT Roorkee
"New initiatives of this kind separate the leaders from followers, and I am delighted to hear about the outlines and philosophy of the programmes. I hope these programmes would help students and working professionals add value to their respective fields," said Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, while inaugurating the new programmes.
UP schools to reopen from Aug 16
It will be mandatory for students to wear masks and maintain social distancing. Students will be required to give the written consent of their parents to attend the schools. Without the consent letter, admission will not be given to the students in the school. "Intermediate Schools in the state will re-open from August 16 with 50 per cent capacity. Colleges and universities will reopen from September 1," the spokesman said.
Allahabad University signs Memorandum of Understanding with IndUS Setu Global Foundation
The MoU was signed by AU Vice-Chancellor Prof Sangita Srivastava on behalf of the university, and Priya Tandon and Nandini Tandon on behalf of the Foundation. UP announces board results; 99.53% pass class 10 exams
The pass percentage for the class 10 examination is 99.53 per cent while for class 12 it is 97.88 per cent. Out of a total of 29,96,031 students, 29,82,055 have passed the high school class 10 board examination. At the same time, out of 26,10,247 students in the intermediate examination, 25,54,930 students have been successful. This year 56,06,278 candidates had registered for class 10 and class 12 board examinations in the state.
CBSE Class 12 results: 99.37% pass, girls fare marginally better than boys
The CBSE said that the pass percentage of girls in the board results is 0.54 per cent more than boys. This year the Class 12 result in Kendriya Vidyalayas is remarkable with a 100 per cent success rate. Similarly, the result of the Central Tibetan Schools is also 100 per cent. This year the board had cancelled the Class 12 examinations due to coronavirus. The result was prepared through an internal assessment system.
14 engineering colleges to impart education in 5 Indian languages: PM Modi
A tool has been developed for translating the engineering courses in 11 languages, Modi said during his address to the policy makers in the domain of education and skill development to mark the completion of one year of reforms under the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP). The emphasis on mother tongue as the medium of instruction will instil confidence in the students from poor, rural and tribal backgrounds.

PM to address education community to mark one year of NEP
The Prime Minister will also launch multiple initiatives in the education sector on the occasion. "The Prime Minister will launch the Academic Bank of Credit that will provide multiple entry and exit options to the students in higher education; first year engineering programmes in regional languages and guidelines for internationalisation of higher education will also be launched," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement.
DU sets new record, prepares UG results within 30 days
The varsity has set a new record under which the results of all undergraduate courses have been prepared within just one month of the conduct of the examination. This is the first time since its inception that the university has taken less than 30 days to prepare the results of undergraduate courses.
