DU executive council approves 4-year undergraduate courses

The Executive Council has approved a number of reforms under the National Policy on Education (NEP), including a four-year undergraduate program (FYUP). The Ministry of Education said that this course is different from the 4-year graduation course introduced last time in 2013. This time many central universities will be allowed to run their regular 3-year graduation programs.

SOPs issued for Delhi schools, colleges reopening from Sep 1

"All classes will function at 50 per cent capacity; all educational institutions will have mandatory quarantine centres; attendance will not be compulsory and online and offline classes will be conducted in parallel," the DDMA's notification read. Schools authorities have been asked to prepare timetables as per occupancy limit of each classroom. The schools and colleges have been asked to set up quarantine rooms.

Varsities set to introduce curriculum based on NEP

Central universities are working on new non-technical postgraduate (PG) courses, where students can directly take admission in PG courses after passing 12th. The initiative is based on the multiple entry and exit system outlined in the NEP. According to Professor V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi, some of the latest initiatives taken by the IITs include the establishment of the School of Artificial Intelligence.
Mysuru University withdraws circular restricting movement of girls

"The Vice Chancellor of the University of Mysuru has withdrawn the circular issued prohibiting the entry of any person into the Kukkarahalli lake area after 6.30 p.m. and movement of girl students alone in the campus. Had spoken to him regarding this," he stated. It is the responsibility of the Vice Chancellors to ensure safety within the campuses. They should best make use of available technology".
Karnataka CET-2021 exam results to be announced by Sep 20

Mysuru University 'bans' movement of girl students after 6.30 p.m.

As the order issued by the Registrar, coming against the backdrop of gang rape incident in the city, evoked outrage, Vice Chancellor, Prof G. Hemantha Kumar, assured to rectify the order by Saturday. The order said that the movement of girl students on the campus has been banned after 6.30 pm. They are also banned from sitting anywhere in the campus after the stipulated time.
Punjab CM lays stone of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Law University

Schools to partially resume in Delhi from September 1

An expert committee established by the DDMA has recommended opening schools in a phased manner in Delhi. The committee has suggested that parents should have an option of sending their children to school while others can opt for online classes. Most schools across the country have remained closed for 15 months since March 2020 which has affected more than 247 million children.
