CBSE Session 2022-23: Two-term board examinations for the upcoming session scrapped

The pandemic was making it difficult for the officials over how to evaluate students and on what terms because schools were going in offline mode only. CBSE had to come up with a solution for it by making a two-term system for the pandemic period. Two-term system of CBSE means the board examinations were conducted in two parts in a single year.

CBSE has announced that the two-term system for board examination which was introduced for the Covid era will be discontinued from the upcoming academic session. CBSE has released the new syllabus for the academic year 2022-23 according to which the pre-pandemic system will be followed.

CBSE Term 1 was held in the months of November and December for both board examination classes- 10th and 12th. While part-2 of the examinations will be from April till May. This system was launched to at least have one exam result in hand at the end of the year. So, if the pandemic hits there will be a chance to assess students in the second term of the board examinations.

"The Assessment scheme will have a theory, internal assessment, or practical components as per the syllabus given for each subject. The board shall conduct Annual examinations for class XII," says the CBSE Class 12 syllabus 2022-23 released by the board. "The Assessment scheme will have an 80 marks component for Board examination (class X) and Annual Examination (class IX) in all subjects except compulsory subjects to be assessed internally along with a 20 marks component of Internal Assessment.," says the CBSE syllabus 2022-23 Class 10, 9.
