Bhagavad Gita to Be Part of Haryana’s Curriculum Up to Class 8

A comprehensive action plan is already being developed by the government with regard to ensuring adequate teachers at schools.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday ordered officials to ensure quality education was imparted in all schools by maintaining the student-teacher ratio as proposed in the National Education Policy and the Bhagavad Gita should feature in the curriculum up to Class 8 to help create good moral values.

That is why; from the ensuing academic session itself, no school will face scarcity of teachers an official statement of the Chief Minister cited.

The meeting was presiding over by Chief Minister. For this purpose; officers of the Elementary Education School Education and Higher Education Departments joined the meeting.

CM Saini directed that a comprehensive plan should be prepared by rationalising the arrangement of teachers in the schools to address the shortage of the teaching faculty if any.

He added that there was no shortage of teachers in Haryana. Instead, the teachers should be provided as per the need of the students. The required arrangements should be completed before the new session, he said.

The Chief Minister said that public confidence in government schools needed to be built, so more children would enroll and go to school for education.

Chief Minister told that sports and cleanliness must become compulsory to achieve the all-around development of children in schools.

He also called for developing teachers' skills to adopt new ways of teaching more effectively. He also directed for maintaining basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, and overall cleanliness in schools and colleges.

Chief Minister Saini said that the government has opened Model Sanskriti Schools at the block level, which are affiliated with the CBSE Board. These schools teach mathematics and science in the English medium.

Due to high demand and competition for admission, he emphasized the need to increase the number of Model Sanskriti Schools at the block level.
