Sensex Gains 218 Points as Ola Electric Shares Extend Decline

Stock has declined more than 45 per cent from the peak so far. Ola Electric's stock has given a low of Rs 85.02 and a high of Rs 88 on Friday.

The Indian stock market closed the week in the green on Friday with both the Sensex and Nifty indices surging. However, Ola Electric stock continued to tank and ended at a fresh low of Rs 86.95. Bhavish Aggarwal-led EV company's stock had clocked an all-time high of Rs 157.40 after listing at Rs 76 apiece.

However, buying has been observed in all sectors including auto, PSU banks, fin services, metal, realty, media, and energy with the exception of the IT and FMCG sectors.

The BSE Sensex ended at 81,224.75 with a gain of 218.14 points or 0.27 percent after trading hours.
NSE Nifty ended at 24,854.05 following the gain in the points to 104.20 or 0.42 percent.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index closed in the green at 58,649.15 as it added 183.20 points or 0.31 per cent at the end of trading. The Nifty Smallcap 100 index ended at 19,077.80 after having added 11.85 points or 0.06 per cent.
Market breadth was mixed. On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), 1,942 stocks were trading in the green, and 1,993 stocks in the red, while 108 stocks closed unchanged.

Infosys (NS: INFY), Asian Paints (NS: ASPN), Nestle (NS: NEST) India, Hindustan Unilever (NS: HLL) Limited, Tech Mahindra (NS: TEML), HCL Tech (NS: HCLT), Titan (NS: TITN), Maruti (NS: MRTI), ITC, Bajaj Finance (NS: BJFN), and M&M (NS: MAHM) formed part of the Sensex pack. The top gainers included Axis Bank (NS:AXBK), ICICI Bank (NS:ICBK), Tata Motors (NS:TAMO), Tata Steel (NS:TISC), NTPC (NS:NTPC), JSW Steel (NS:JSTL), Sun Pharma (NS:SUN), SBI (NS:SBI), Adani Ports, TCS (NS:TCS) UltraTech Cement (NS:ULTC), and HDFC Bank (NS:HDBK).

Axis Bank, Wipro (NS:WIPR), Eicher Motors (NS:EICH), ICICI Bank, Shri Ram Finance, Hindalco (NS:HALC), HDFC Life, and Grasim (NS:GRAS) were the gainers from the Nifty pack. Infosys, Asian Paints, Britannia (NS:BRIT), Nestle India, Hindustan Unilever (LON:ULVR) Limited, Tech Mahindra, Titan, Bajaj Auto (NS:BAJA) and ITC came out on the losing side.

FIIs sold equities worth Rs 7,421 cr on October 17, as against domestic institutional investors buying equities worth Rs 4,979 cr.
As per Krishna Appala, senior research analyst, Capital Mind Research, the market continued its bearish run for the third successive week as Nifty 50 declined 5.2 % from the recent peak.

"On a weekly basis, the Nifty 50 fell 0.4 per cent while the CNX Midcap dropped 0.7 percent, and the CNX Smallcap gained modestly by 0.5 percent," added Appala.
