Amid speculation about Elon Musk's visit to Gujarat, a senior government official has clarified that the Tesla founder is not expected to attend the ongoing Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. However, the state government expressed its eagerness to welcome Tesla and facilitate any potential investments by the electric vehicle manufacturer in Gujarat.
Managing Director of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, Rahul Gupta, emphasized the state's keen interest in attracting Tesla to India and highlighted that Gujarat is already home to several electric vehicle manufacturers. While addressing the ongoing speculation about Elon Musk's attendance at the summit, a state government official stated that Musk is not expected to be part of the event.
Gupta emphasized that it is the prerogative of any company to decide where to invest, and the government of Gujarat is ready to facilitate Tesla if the company decides to set up operations in the state. He highlighted Gujarat's industrial landscape and robust infrastructure as additional factors that could attract a company like Tesla.
Earlier, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra mentioned discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Elon Musk during the PM's visit to the United States. The discussions reportedly focused on potential investment and manufacturing partnerships with India to strengthen the automobile manufacturing segment in the country.
