IndiGo has unveiled plans for direct flights between Mumbai and Ayodhya starting January 15, enhancing travel accessibility for passengers seeking a direct route to the sacred city.
This move follows IndiGo's recent announcement of initiating flights from the upcoming Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport in Ayodhya, commencing with services from Delhi on December 30. Subsequently, commercial operations linking Delhi to Ayodhya from January 6 and Ahmedabad to Ayodhya from January 11 will begin.
Vinay Malhotra, the Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed enthusiasm about this development, stating, "Expanding direct connectivity between Ayodhya and Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad is a significant step for us. These new flight paths are poised to boost travel, tourism, and commerce in the area, fostering economic growth and providing travelers seamless access to Ayodhya through our 6E network across India and beyond."
Additionally, Air India Express had previously announced the commencement of services from Ayodhya International Airport, starting December 30. A spokesperson for the airline detailed the flight schedule, stating, "The inaugural flight IX 2789 is set to depart from Delhi at 11 a.m. and arrive in Ayodhya at 12.20 p.m. Subsequently, the return flight IX 1769 from Ayodhya to Delhi is scheduled for departure at 12.50 p.m., arriving at 2.10 p.m."
These new flight connections mark a significant step in enhancing connectivity to Ayodhya, catering to both pilgrims and tourists eager to explore the city's cultural and historical significance.
