Focusing on the international prospects of Indian-produced cars, PM Modi said on Tuesday that Indian-made electric vehicles (EVs) would be shipped to over 100 nations. He pointed out that EVs sporting the "Made-In-India" tag would soon be found cruising on the roads of over a dozen countries.
"Now, the EVs which will operate in dozens of countries across the globe will bear inscribed on them- Made In India.," said PM Modi, praising Suzuki Japan for producing cars in India and shipping them to other countries.
The Prime Minister stated this while unveiling the eVitara from Gujarat's Hansalpur factory.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi noted Japan's manufacturing of Suzuki EVs in India not only signifies the excellent relationship between the two nations but also indicates "the global confidence in India." He went on to mention the global shortage of rare earth minerals and launched India's 'Critical Minerals Mission' to reverse this challenge. We are conscious of the shortage of rare earths, and hence the government has initiated the Critical Minerals Mission. This mission will be executed in over 1,200 sites all over India," he added.
Apart from declaring the EV exports, PM Modi also informed that hybrid battery electrolyte manufacturing would begin from Tuesday. "In this Ganesh Utsav fervour, today a new chapter is being written in India's 'Make in India' journey. It is a giant step forward towards our aim of 'Make in India, Make for the World'," he said.
Looking back on the project allocation of the Maruti Suzuki factory in Hansalpur in 2012, PM Modi observed that 13 years have lapsed, an achievement he equated with the beginning of teenage years.
"Thirteen years is actually the beginning of teenage and teenage is the age of spreading wings. It is the age of allowing dreams to fly, and many dreams come out during teenage." he observed.
Gujarat's Maruti is growing into its teens, which means in the next few days Maruti will burst new wings and it will progress with new zeal and enthusiasm. The seeds of India's success story were planted around 13 years ago," PM Modi said.
The same day, Maruti Suzuki India started the production of the e-VITARA, which is Suzuki's first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). Maruti Suzuki is going to invest ₹70,000 crore in India in the next 5-6 years to increase its production capacity.
PM Modi also inaugurated a lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant for strong hybrid electric vehicles, which was set up as a joint venture company of Toshiba, Denso, and Suzuki.
