Tesla gets nods for three more car models, 7 EV variants to launch in India

Musk-owned auto giant Tesla has reportedly received approval to launch three more electric vehicles in India, according to media reports. With the recent approvals, the electric vehicle company will be launching as many as 7 vehicles, however, the company has not issued any official statement on the timeline yet.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways gave a nod to the Tesla vehicles, which was reported by Teslarati on Monday. Official updates by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways website Vahan also verified that Tesla's India outfit is registered as Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited (TIME).
 

Key Points


1. The first four Tesla car models received their homologation certificates earlier in August this year and four more models were reportedly approved on Monday in India.

2. The report specified that the Tesla car models which received the nod from the Centre are yet to be specified but electric cars of the Musk owned car company have been spotted on the Indian roads. Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y have also were also seen on the local roads, the report added.

3. However, the US-based EV-maker is still in talks with the Centre to reduce import duties on their vehicles to enter the Indian car market. Tesla is also the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer and also one of the top carmakers, has four key models on offer around the world.
