BMW Group India Records Best-Ever H1 Sales in 2025; EV Sales Jump 234%

BMW Group India declared on Thursday that it has achieved its highest-half-year performance to date, selling a total of 7,774 cars in January and June 2025.

Talking about the sales, Vikram Pawah, President and Chief Executive Officer of BMW Group India, said in a statement, "We are on a fast track, registering +10 per cent growth against a challenging environment as we continue to unfold new opportunities in the luxury segment." BMW accounted for 7,477 units of the total sales, with MINI selling 297 units.

Electric Vehicles Power Strong Momentum

Electric mobility has been a major driver of the company's robust growth in 2025. BMW Group India maintained its leadership within the luxury EV space with combined BMW and MINI electric vehicle deliveries totaling 1,322 units in H1 2025. This is an unprecedented 234% increase over the same period in 2024. EVs currently account for 18% of the company's overall passenger vehicle sales.

The Long Wheelbase variant of the BMW iX1 proved to be the best-selling electric car, followed very closely by the luxury BMW i7. Indeed, BMW's long wheelbase models—3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, and the iX1—experienced 159% year-on-year growth and now account for 47% of BMW's total sales.

Strong Demand Across Segments

Among sedans, the BMW 5 Series took the lead as the company's best-selling sedan in India, while the BMW 3 Series continued to hold the top slot in the country's premium sedan segment.

Within the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) segment, BMW recorded a 17% increase in year-on-year sales in H1 2025. The top-selling SAV, the BMW X1, contributed more than 30% of BMW's overall car sales. The bigger BMW X5 also saw high demand in the period.

MINI and Motorrad Continue to See Uptick

MINI brand sold 297 units in the first half of 2025. MINI Cooper S was the best-selling model, posting over 60% growth. MINI Countryman E, the electric model, also helped much in the performance of MINI.

BMW Motorrad, the firm's two-wheeler arm, sold 2,569 motorcycles in H1 2025. BMW G 310 RR topped the smart-cc motorcycle segment, and the adventure segment-leading BMW GS and the performance-oriented S 1000 RR topped their respective markets.

Retail Innovation and Financial Services Drive Growth

BMW Group India credited some of its success to its innovative customer engagement strategy, most notably its 'Retail.NEXT' idea and creative financing solutions under the 'BMW Smart Finance' umbrella. These programs have played a key role in enriching the customer experience and broadening access to luxury mobility.

To more fully realize this vision, the company is investing more than ₹365 crore to launch the 'Retail.NEXT' format at 56 facilities in 33 cities in India.
