Post rain, Delhi to witness clear sky from Feb 5

The IMD on Monday said, North India, in the month of February, is likely to receive an average rainfall above normal i.e. more than 121 per cent of the Long Period Average (LPA) that is 65.3 mm, recorded between 1961-2010. "The probabilistic forecast for the spatial distribution of tercile rainfall categories (above normal, normal, and below normal) over the country for the month of February suggests that normal to below normal rainfall is most likely over most parts of North India except most parts of Punjab and Haryana where above normal rainfall is most likely," IMD said.

The probability forecast for the minimum temperatures indicates that during February, below normal minimum temperatures are most likely over most parts of the country except eastern parts of northeast India, south peninsular India, and southeastern parts of central India, where normal to above normal minimum temperatures are likely.
UP achieves 100% first dose coverage

The milestone was achieved at around 8.30 p.m. on Monday. The officials informed that while district wise data was still being tabulated, the state has crossed the 100 per cent mark.Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had set January 31 as the deadline for first dose saturation. "The estimated adult population to be vaccinated in Uttar Pradesh is 14.74 crore. And, as of Monday evening, the entire chunk has taken at least one dose," said a senior health officer.

Goa polls: 301 candidates in fray after last date for withdrawal

According to a statement issued by Goa's Chief Electoral Officer, Goa, after scrutiny of the forms, 332 candidates were cleared to contest the elections. The highest number of contestants, 13, are contesting from the Siolim Assembly constituency in North Goa. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant's constituency of Sanquelim in North Goa follows with 12 candidates, while 10 candidates are in the fray from the Cuncolim assembly constituency in South Goa.
Over 1.66 lakh road, 6000 LSBs completed under PMGSY

During the same time frame, a total of 1,82,506 roads measuring 7,82,844 km and 9,456 (LSBs) have been sanctioned. The primary objective of the PMGSY is to provide connectivity, by way of an all-weather road with necessary culverts and cross-drainage structures, which is operable throughout the year, to eligible unconnected habitations in rural areas. Meanwhile, 2.17 crore houses have been sanctioned and 1.69 crore houses completed against a target of 2.63 crore houses till 2021-22 under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).
Mamata blocks Guv Jagdeep Dhankhar's Twitter account

Oldest at 94, Badal files nomination for Punjab polls

Parkash Singh Badal is the oldest candidate at 94 for the February 20 polls to the 117-member legislative Assembly. A five-time MLA from the Lambi constituency, the elderly Badal was the president of the SAD from 1995 to 2008. Badal had won the 2017 Assembly elections from this seat by defeating Capt Amarinder Singh with 22,770 votes.
