After Covid, its hijab challenge for Karnatak education dept as exams near

Karnataka education department, which successfully conducted board exams during the Covid pandemic in the last two years, is now facing the challenge of hijab issue. Against the backdrop of verdict by the Special bench of the Karnataka High Court, the state government has decided not to allow students wearing hijab to take up exams. To ensure smooth conduct of exams, tight police security will be made near the examination centres.
Gita not just religious book but a philosophy: NCM chairperson

Russia has imposed restrictions on the movement of funds that could be transferred to "unfriendly" countries and regions, its central bank has said. The measure was taken in response to the freezing of part of Russia's gold and foreign currency reserves in some countries, the central bank said on Telegram on Friday.
Ukraine, Russia conduct first prisoner swap

Ukraine and Russia have conducted the first prisoner swap since Moscow waged its war on Kiev on February 24, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said here Ten Ukrainian prisoners-of-war held by the Russian military were released in exchange for 10 Russian soldiers captured by Ukrainian forces, Xinhua news agency quoted Vereshchuk as saying in a Facebook post.
Russian forces take control of Ukraine's Izyum city

Russia's armed forces have taken control of the city of Izyum in Ukraine's Kharkov region, a top official in Moscow confirmed. Addressing a media briefing, Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Thursday that Russian forces also hit 60 Ukrainian military facilities over the past day.
Properties in J&K sheltering militants to be attached

In a major development, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday started the process of attaching immovable properties used to provide shelter to militants or where conspiracies were hatched to attack security forces and civilians. "Process has started for attachment of some immovable properties which have been used for purpose of militancy as per section 2(g) & 25 of ULP Act.
MP govt issues notice to IAS officer for 'The Kashmir Files' remark

The Madhya Pradesh government on Thursday issued show-cause notice to senior IAS officer Niyaz Khan, whose comments on 'The Kashmir Files' resulted in a big controversy in the state. Khan, a 2015 batch IAS officer serving as deputy secretary with the Public Works Department, had last week urged makers of 'The Kashmir Files' to also make a film on the killings of large numbers of Muslims across several states in India.
500 kg heroin smuggling by Pak through Gujarat, NIA files supplementary chargesheet

Earlier, 10 accused persons have been chargesheeted in the case. The chargesheet was filed before a Special Court in Ahmedabad. The case was initially registered by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad in 2018. The case pertains to a criminal conspiracy hatched by the accused based in Dubai and Pakistan for smuggling and distribution of 500 kg of illegal narcotic heroin from Pakistan to Gujarat through the sea route.
India has recorded 154 invasive alien species: Govt

"The action plan of the government to prevent the reproduction and proliferation of invasive species includes strengthening of quarantine facilities at airport and seaport, strict compliance of IMO (International Maritime Organisation) norms for ballast water disposal, evaluation on the impact assessment on the exotic species," he said.
