Madhya Pradesh government transfers probe into marijuana 'sale' through Amazon to STF

A racket, which allegedly sold ganja (cannabis) under the guise of selling a sweetener on Amazon, was busted by Bhind district police. Following which a case was also registered against executive directors of Amazon India. Earlier, the case was being investigated by the crime research department of the state police, which now has been transferred to the STF. A vide order in this regard was issued last month by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), G.P. Singh.
UP mulling 'one district, one sport' scheme now

According to official sources, the sports department has been asked to prepare a blueprint for the scheme and identify popular sports for each district. 'The chief minister wants indigenous sports to be promoted through this new scheme. Water sports will be an integral part of the scheme for districts that are situated on the banks of major rivers. The idea is to encourage the youth to take to sports and also hone their skills," said an official of the sports department.
Current heat wave second longest for April in Delhi in over decade: IMD

"Heat wave days, when counted for Safdarjung airport, city's base station, based on 5-days based Pented normal - the method IMD follows for heat wave and severe heat wave - for the month of April and corresponding actual maximum temperature observations for the last 12 years, i.e., 2011 to 2022, has shown that April 2017 had the longest heat wave with six days while the current month, April 2022 till Monday, April 11, has become the second highest with five days," IMD's senior scientist R.K. Jenamani said.
Cross FIRs lodged in JNU brawl case, probe on

"We have received a complaint from a group of students who are members of JNUSU, SFI, DSF and AISA against unknown ABVP students," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manoj C. said, adding the students belonging to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have also said that they will also be giving a written complaint. Later in the evening, the DCP said that another FIR was registered on the complaint of ABVP.
Unified MCD: Babus to manage civic body till polls

The current term of the three bodies, with 272 wards under them, expires between May 18 and 22 this year. Under the act, that created a single MCD, recently passed in Parliament, the Ministry of Home Affairs, had put up an option to appoint an officer of its own choice to manage affairs of the unified corporation till elections are held.
6-8 lakh pilgrims expected at this year's Amarnath Yatra

Talking to reporters here, he said that this year. Amarnath Yatra will be one of the biggest yatras in the history of J&K as around 6-8 lakh pilgrims are expected to arrive on the pilgrimage. "Today, I met the officials of the administration including Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners. We were told that this year it will be a historic pilgrimage and for that all the necessary arrangements have been put in place."

Strange tweets were posted from the official account of the Uttar Pradesh handle on Monday. The tweets were deleted shortly thereafter. One of the tweets read: "In celebration for the reveal of the Beanz Official Collection, we have opened up an airdrop to all active NFT traders in the community for the next 24 hours! Claim your beanz. Take the red bean fren."
Lemon prices shoot up, lemonade out of reach

Lemon selling at Rs 325 per kilogram and Rs 13 per piece in Lucknow, the zing and the tang has gone out of food. The twist of lemon in Dal tadka, a sprinkle on tandoori chicken and the tang in salads has gone out. Lemonade, popularly known as 'shikanji', is no longer served to guests in the scorching heat.
Peace meeting for Hindu-Muslim unity in Bengaluru

The peace meeting has been organised in the state capital by Bharat Rakshana Vedike. The meeting will discuss the issues of hijab versus saffron shawl row, killings of Hindu activists and campaign against the Muslim community which are harming the Hindu-Muslim relationship in the state. The peace meeting is titled 'Sneha Sammilana haagu Samarasya sabhe' (Meeting for Harmony and get together).
Respite from heatwave likely after April 12

Notably, the people of Delhi are currently reeling under heatwave conditions with maximum temperature hovering between 40-43.5 degree Celsius from the past couple of days. In the past 24 hours, the maximum temperatures were above normal by 6-10 degree Celsius at most parts of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana-Delhi and at many parts over west Rajasthan.
