Jahangirpuri Violence: Delhi Police submit preliminary report to MHA

The preliminary report contains the details of the riots that broke out in north-west Delhi's Jahangirpuri area on Saturday evening over a procession taken out on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The Delhi Police in the report detailed the information about the incident and elaborated the steps taken by them to restore normalcy in the area.

The area was still under heavy security cover, excessively barricaded and manned by the police personnel along with the paramilitary forces. The people have been asked to avoid walking on that stretch. Several shops in the vicinity of the violence-hit road were still closed. The police have divided the area into five sectors -- Sector 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 -- to efficiently secure the area in case of any emergency. The police personnel in every sector are being led by Additional DCPs.

Earlier in the day, the apex court had cancelled the bail of Mishra in connection with the October 2021 incident at Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh wherein a vehicle allegedly belonging to him had mowed down several people including protesting farmers.
