With India Facing Threats on Two and a Half Fronts, Land Will Remain Key to Victory: Army Chief Gen Dwivedi

At the event, Dwivedi pointed out the decisive nature of ground forces in combat, alluding to last month's Alaska summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, where Ukraine dominated the agenda.

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi highlighted the importance of land-based forces in deciding the fate of battles during his address at the Army Institute of Management (AIM) in Kolkata on Tuesday. According to him, control over territory would be India's victory key.

At the event, Dwivedi pointed out the decisive nature of ground forces in combat, alluding to last month's Alaska summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, where Ukraine dominated the agenda.

“When you look back at the Alaska conference between the two presidents, their focus was on how much land needs to change hands,” Dwivedi said.

“In India, with threats on two and a half fronts, land will remain the key to victory,” he added.

The comment by the army chief follows only two weeks after Air Chief Marshal A P Singh stressed the role of air power during Operation Sindoor, reaffirming the role of air power in contemporary military strategy.

Dwivedi also spoke about the evolving nature of warfare and how the Indian Army is responding to these changes by adopting new and emerging technologies, marking an era of transformation and modernization for the force.
