U.S. President Donald Trump unleashed a blistering attack on the judiciary of the nation after a federal judge temporarily suspended his administration's attempt to remove legal protections from hundreds of thousands of immigrants.
The ruling, made earlier this week by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani, essentially halted the Trump administration's effort to roll back a humanitarian immigration policy on April 24. The policy, or immigration parole, had been utilized to grant temporary lawful status to over half a million migrants from four nations.
Judge Talwani’s decision stopped deportation orders and prevented officials from terminating the legal protection afforded under the parole scheme, which was originally implemented by the Biden administration. It benefits migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, who had entered the country legally through the CHNV program.
In her ruling, Talwani stressed the significance of due process, saying: "The termination, without any case-by-case justification, of legal status for noncitizens who have abided by DHS programs and entered the country lawfully undermines the rule of law."
Responding to the ruling, Trump vented outrage on his Truth Social platform. "Can you believe it? A Judge ruled against us on 530,000 illegal aliens (that Joe Biden flew over the border in his scheme to bring illegals into the country by plane) stating that they can't be considered as a group, but that each case must be tried separately. According to the court system, that would take around 100 years.," he wrote.
"What is going on with our courts? They are completely out of hand. They hate 'Trump' so much, that anything is permitted!
" He went on, denouncing the ruling as an impediment to bringing order back. "We are attempting to restore our nation from the chaos left by the Democrats and corrupt Joe Biden. I won on a platform of common s, and what common sense do we have when we have to conduct 530,000 trials? This radicalized Judge is stating that drowsy Joe Biden can bring in over half a million illegals into America in a single day, but we must conduct numerous years of lengthy and boring trials to fly each and every one of them back to their homeland.
Where is the justice here??"
The judicial dispute is about the Biden-era CHNV program, which allowed 532,000 citizens from the four named nations to travel straight into the U.S. after obtaining sponsors residing in the nation. On arrival, they were given parole and permitted to remain and work in the U.S. legally for two years. Judge Talwani’s ruling temporarily protects the CHNV initiative, a key immigration measure backed by the current administration, while legal proceedings continue.
