United States (US) President Donald Trump in his message on New Year's Eve, talked about his achievements in office and hailed them as 'historic victories'.
The US President posted a video on Twitter in which he said, "We have to be remembered for what's been done."
Trump hasn't yet accepted his defeat in the Presidential elections of November 2020 officially. Amid fight with Congress over a defence bill and coronavirus aid, he returned to Washington from his Florida resort.
Meanwhile, Joe Biden is looking forward to 2021. He is going to take office on January 20. He said, "I'm absolutely, positively confident - confident - we're going to come back and we're going to come back even stronger than before."
Biden also paid tribute to healthcare workers and encouraged people to get vaccinated. He called for quick distribution of Covid-19 vaccines.
The United States is one of the worst-hit countries by Covid-19 and has the highest fatalities in the world. The country recorded more than 340,000 deaths officially.
Though Trump was infected with Covid-19 in October, he has been denying the severity of the impact of the virus. With such claims, he has been attracting criticism from the experts as he has also been ignoring the scientific claims on the transmission of the infection.
During his address, Trump had noted that the US has produced the Covid-19 vaccine in record time. Also, his prediction of having the vaccine before the year-end came true.
