U.S. President Donald Trump escalated his attacks on Barack Obama on Monday by posting an AI-produced video showing the former President being taken into custody by FBI agents within the Oval Office.
The digitally manipulated clip, uploaded on Trump's Truth Social website, starts with Obama saying: "especially the President is above the law," and followed by a series of different American politicians saying, "no one is above the law."
The video then goes to a staged scene depicting Obama being handcuffed in the same office he used to occupy, as Trump smirks in the background. It ends with a photo of Obama dressed as a prisoner, standing behind bars.
Significantly, Trump provided no disclaimer to explain that the video was made up. That absence elicited scathing criticism from critics, who called the action "deeply irresponsible."
The incendiary post comes after Trump recently accused Obama of engaging in "high-level election fraud.
Fueling the controversy, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard recently alleged to have "striking" and "overwhelming" evidence that points to former officials in the Obama administration as instigators of the Trump-Russia collusion plot following the 2016 election as a bid to sabotage Trump's presidency. Gabbard demanded their prosecution.
Americans will finally find out the truth about how in 2016, intelligence was politicized and weaponized by the most senior officials in the Obama administration to set the stage for what was effectively a years-long coup against President Donald Trump, overruling the will of the American people and subverting our democratic republic," she posted on X.
Conversely, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) released a 114-page report that presents a different picture. In its findings, it stated that prior to the November 2016 election, the Intelligence Community repeatedly judged that Russia was "probably not trying to influence the election by using cyber means." Furthermore, a December 8, 2016 President's daily brief draft stated that Russia "did not impact recent US election results" through cyberattacks on U.S. election infrastructure.
