Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated on Saturday that his summit with US President Donald Trump centered on discovering means to bring an end to fighting in Ukraine "on a fair basis."
Speaking to top officials in Moscow a day after the Alaska meeting, Putin referred to the talks as "timely" and "very useful," based on Kremlin-released photos.
We have had direct negotiations of this type for a very long time," he stated, continuing, "We were able to explain calmly and in full detail our position."
He also termed the meeting as "very frank, substantive, and, in my opinion, brings us closer to the necessary decisions."
Putin initiated an all-out invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, leading to thousands killed, the destruction of cities en masse, and millions displaced.
