The US Congress on Monday certified President-elect Donald Trump's victory in the November 2024 election, peaceably wrapping up a ritual his supporters had sought to prevent him from going through in 2021 in a misleading belief he'd been cheated out of a win.

Vice President Kamala Harris presided over the process on a snowy day that essentially amounted to certifying her own defeat to Trump as the Democratic Party nominee.

The whole number of the electors appointed to vote for President of the United States is 538 within that whole number, the majority is 270,' said Harris as he closed the voting. 'The votes for President of the United States are: Donald J Trump, State of Florida, 312; Kamala D. Harris, State of California, 226.'.

The total number of electors appointed to cast their vote for Vice-President of the United States is 538, within this whole number a majority is 270. For Vice-President of the United States, JD Vance of the State of Ohio is elected with a total of 312 votes.

This declaration of the state of the vote by the President of the Senate shall be deemed a sufficient declaration of the persons elected President and Vice-President of the United States each for a term beginning on the 20th day of January 2025, and shall be entered together with the list of the votes on the journals of the House and the Senate, thank you very much."

Four years ago on this day, Trump's supporters stormed the US Capitol, where both the chambers of the Congress are located, because lawmakers were convening to certify Joe Biden's election as President, comfortably defeating the then sitting President. They sought to halt the process. Rioters ran amok as lawmakers took shelter wherever they could. Five people died in the immediate aftermath, one of them was shot by police and other died of other causes.

President-elect Trump had then overlooked other minor and big traditions that have become part of the transition. He refused to take the incoming President to the White House, as the previous Presidents have done it - as did President Barack Obama, his predecessor, and President Biden as his predecessor for the second term. He had also left town for Mar-a-Lago in Florida without watching Biden's inauguration ceremony.

Trump never admitted to his defeat in public. Without a word on the event about to transpire shortly in the US Congress, he posted on Truth Social, his social media platform, "Biden is doing everything possible to make the TRANSITION as difficult as as possible, from Lawfare such as has never been seen before, to costly and ridiculous Executive Orders on the Green New Scam and other money wasting Hoaxes.".

Don't worry, all these "Orders" will soon be reversed and we'll become a Nation of Common Sense and Strength. MAGA!!!  President-elect Trump will be sworn in on January 20, and President Biden said he planned to attend the ceremony.
