During his special address at the WEF Annual Meeting 2024, Zelenskyy, who also held discussions with several world leaders, expressed the pressing need for an end to the war and the restoration of just peace in Ukraine. Zelenskyy referenced conflicts in Syria and Crimea, attributing at least 13 years of stolen peace to one man—Putin. He asserted that all attempts at resolving the situation have failed, highlighting Putin's reliance on acquiring weapons from North Korea and Iran, as well as supporting terrorists in response to calls for peace.

Addressing the global implications of the conflict, Zelenskyy emphasized that it is not solely about Ukraine. He acknowledged that Ukraine was initially alone in facing the attack but noted that the world has stopped believing in Russia, and Putin's future is increasingly doubted.

Calling for collective investment in peace, Zelenskyy stressed the need for Putin to regret his actions and be defeated. He emphasized the strength of world unity over one man's hatred, expressing skepticism about the possibility of Putin changing under pressure from his people. Zelenskyy asserted, "I don't think Putin can change because only humans change."
