UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reacted emotionally to a racist slur aimed at him, saying he was hurt and infuriated by such an incident. Addressing media persons while campaigning for the general elections, Sunak narrated how activists of the Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, used derogatory language for him and called him a derogatory term.
"It hurts, and it makes me angry," the British Indian leader, 44, said, adding that such behavior raises serious questions about the culture within the Reform Party.
“I don’t repeat those words lightly. I do so deliberately because this is too important not to call out clearly for what it is."It is a very grave situation, added Sunak.
One campaigner for the Reform UK party was caught on camera using a slur. Quick, sharp condemnation followed from Farage himself, who described the actions as "appalling."
"When you see Reform candidates and campaigners using, apparently, racist and misogynistic language and opinions apparently without challenge, I think that tells you something about the culture within the Reform Party." He also slammed Farage for controversial comments he has made in recent years, saying rhetoric like his emboldens foes like Vladimir Putin.
As he speaks, the polls inch closer; Sunak and his Conservative Party are not only under attack but are unable to keep a house in order with internal concerns over betting-related scandals. Neither will Sunak stop and continue to reach out and appeal to voters by telling them to reflect seriously on what the election outcome could mean for the country's future.
