In accordance with U.S. authorities, Khan intended to travel from Canada into New York and attack a Jewish institution on October 7, 2024 — a date specifically selected as it would coincide with the first anniversary of the Hamas-sponsored terror attack against Israel.

FBI Director Kash Patel affirmed the extradition through a tweet on X, which lauded international cooperation in thwarting the intended act of terror.

"Breaking news… earlier today, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan… was extradited to the United States on charges of trying to provide material support to ISIS and trying to commit acts of terrorism," Patel explained.

He also revealed disturbing details of the planned terror attack, saying, "Khan allegedly intended for his attack to be committed on October 7, 2024 — the one year anniversary of the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel."

Recognizing the collaborative efforts that resulted in foiling the plot, Patel stated, "Fortunately, the excellent work of FBI squads and our partners laid bare those plans and brought them to an end." The case demonstrates the importance of international intelligence sharing in the fight against threats that involve terrorism.

The FBI Director also put the case into a broader context, noting the growing threats to Jewish communities in the face of increased global antisemitism.
