Yerlikaya addressed reporters in Eregli, explaining that authorities have been unsuccessful in establishing communication with the crew.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed a distressing incident on Monday: a cargo ship with a crew of 12 has capsized off the Black Sea coast of Turkey amidst a severe overnight storm.

Yerlikaya addressed reporters in Eregli, explaining that authorities have been unsuccessful in establishing communication with the crew. The vessel, named "Kafkametler," was en route from the Russian port of Temryuk to Aliaga in Turkey, carrying ferrosilicon. Tragically, it sank after colliding with the breakwater in Eregli.

The area experienced severe storms on Sunday, hampering rescue efforts due to adverse weather conditions. Yerlikaya emphasized that as soon as the weather improves, search and rescue operations will commence promptly.

The safety and recovery of the crew remain a top priority, and efforts will be mobilized as soon as conditions permit, reflecting the urgency and seriousness of the situation.
