On Tuesday, the US will elect its 47th President as Republican nominee Donald Trump goes head to head with Democratic leader Kamala Harris in a tight race that will be remembered as one of the closest battles for the White House in decades.
As the clock ticks down to election day, Former President Trump, 78, stirred bitter memories of the 2020 election when he said he "shouldn't have left" the White House, casting a dark cloud of uncertainty on whether he will accept the November 5 voting result if he loses the contest to 60-year-old Harris.
"I shouldn't have left. I mean, honestly, because…we did so well," the former President said at a rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania.
Following the election that put Joe Biden into office, Trump made fraud claims against the vote and appealed to several courts that rejected his pleas.
In her closing remarks in the key battleground state of Michigan, Harris said she would be a president for all Americans and spoke about the need to turn the page on "hate and division" while Trump continued his tirade against his Democratic rival.
"It's going to be one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime, and we've got the momentum on our side-do you feel it," Vice President Harris said at her Michigan rally.
The vice president also mentioned the war in Gaza during the comments of the rally, which had every indication that she tried her best to reach across the Arab American voters' side in the state.
It is devastating; this has been a trying year considering the scale of death and destruction in Gaza and also by the extent of the casualties, displacement to civilians, particularly that in Lebanon, said the official.
More than 75 million Americans had cast their ballots as of Sunday, reports the University of Florida's Election Lab tracking early and mail-in votes in the country.
In the whole campaign, Harris had been pitching the election as the one to protect the fundamental freedoms in the country, constitutional values, and the rights of women, whereas Trump promised to rebuild the economy and clear the United States of illegal immigrants.
In some disappointment for Trump, a new poll in Iowa said Harris is leading with 47 percent as against Trump's 44 percent, which signaled positive momentum for the Vice President.
Trump has swiftly rejected the poll, calling it skewed to favor the Democratic Party.
Trump, during the rally at Lititz, also took a jab at the immigration policy of the Biden-Harris administration. He stated that till he stayed in the White House, there was nothing to fear for national borders.
Trump further took a shot at Harris. He also alleged that Democratic Party was a "corrupt machine".
"It's all corrupt. She is corrupt. She is a corrupt person. I am running against a totally corrupt person," he alleged.
"I am really not running against her. I am running against a corrupt machine called the Democrat Party." Pennsylvania has emerged as the most crucial of the seven battleground states having 19 electoral college votes followed by 16 each in North Carolina and Georgia, 15 in Michigan and 11 in Arizona.
Other battleground states, Wisconsin has 10 and Nevada has six.
While promising "a new golden age" for the US if he becomes president, Trump also promised the Keystone State that he will "fix" the sins of the Biden-Harris administration.
In North Carolina and Georgia, Trump continued holding rallies as Harris embarked on a tour in Michigan.
In a speech during an event in Detroit, Harris said it is upon the American people to determine which future course the United States will take, implying Trump would be a disaster for the country.
Election Day affords voters the chance to reject "chaos, fear and hate," she said.
"In two days, we have the power to decide the fate of our nation for generations to come," she said.
"I see a nation determined to turn the page on hate and division and chart a new way forward. As I travel, I see Americans from so-called red states and so-called blue states who are ready to bend the arc of history toward justice," Harris added.
The Democratic Party leader also invoked God and said his plan was to "heal us and bring us together as one nation," but that it was not enough, adding that "we must act" to realize the plan.
