U.S. President Donald Trump went on the attack against climate activist Greta Thunberg after she claimed Israeli forces kidnapped her while bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza. When asked by a reporter for his response to Thunberg's allegations, Trump quipped that she should perhaps take an anger management class.
According to information, Thunberg was on a boat named Madleen where activist boats were intercepted by the Israeli military while proceeding to Gaza as part of Freedom Flotilla for supplying aid supplies. The boat had taken off from Sicily at the start of June and was carrying items like infant formula, flour, rice, diapers, and women's hygiene products.
In a pre-recorded video shared on social media, Thunberg claimed that she and others had been seized in international waters.
If you can see this video, we are intercepted and kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces, or forces loyal to Israel, in international waters. I ask all my comrades, friends and family to make as much pressure as possible on the Swedish government to release us all as soon as possible," she added.
Reacting to the incident, Trump said:
"She is an odd character. She is a young, angry person, I don't know if it's real anger; it's hard to believe. She's certainly different. I think she has to go to an anger management class, that's my primary recommendation for her."
He added, "I think Israel has enough problems without kidnapping Greta Thunberg."
In the meantime, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition denounced Israel's actions by claiming that the nation had violated international law.
Israel's foreign ministry responded to those allegations in an X (formerly Twitter) post, with the assurance that the passengers were safe and in good health. They labeled the mission as a "selfie yacht" and confirmed the ship was headed for Israel's coast. They also added that food and water were being offered to the activists.
The Israeli authorities had cautioned ahead of time that all necessary means would be required to implement the blockade and prevent Madleen from entering Gaza.
