Thailand Reports 20 Citizens Still Held by Hamas

Thailand has expressed its commitment to work towards the release of all its citizens held by Hamas. Iran is reported to have played a significant role in securing the release of the 10 Thai nationals and one Philippine national.

Thailand has reported that 20 of its citizens are still being held by Hamas, even after the release of 10 Thai citizens and one Philippine national as part of a larger deal brokered by Qatar between Hamas and Israel. The release of hostages took place on Friday, with Hamas freeing 13 Israelis, including the 10 Thai citizens.

Thailand has expressed its commitment to work towards the release of all its citizens held by Hamas. Iran is reported to have played a significant role in securing the release of the 10 Thai nationals and one Philippine national.

Sources from the Thailand Embassy in Tel Aviv have indicated that all possible backchannels will be utilized to facilitate the release of the remaining Thai citizens held by Hamas.

As part of the broader agreement, which includes a four-day ceasefire starting from Friday, the movement of trucks carrying aid materials such as food, fuel, and medicines will be allowed into Gaza via the Rafah crossing.

Reports suggest that no gunshots have been heard in Gaza since Friday morning, signifying a period of relative calm. However, Israel has claimed to have shot down missiles allegedly fired by Hezbollah from the West Bank region on Saturday morning.
