The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, is set to visit Israel again on Friday, where he has meetings scheduled with government officials. According to State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, "Secretary Blinken will travel to Israel on Friday for meetings with members of the Israeli government, and then will make other stops in the region."
Blinken has previously made multiple visits to Israel since the Hamas attack on October 7. In addition to Israel, he also visited several other countries in the region, including Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt last month. He also accompanied President Joe Biden during his meetings with Israeli government officials during his historic visit to Tel Aviv on October 18.
Furthermore, on Tuesday, Blinken had a phone conversation with Israeli President Isaac Herzog. During the call, he reiterated the US's support for Israel's right to defend itself against terrorism in accordance with international humanitarian law. They also discussed efforts to safeguard US citizens in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza, bringing hostages home, increasing humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians in Gaza, and preventing the conflict from spreading.
