Russian Plane with 49 Aboard Crashes After Vanishing from Radar; Wreckage Found in Flames

A 49-person passenger plane has reportedly crashed in Russia's eastern Amur province, on the border with China.

The plane, a Serbian airline's An-24, lost communication with air traffic controllers as it was approaching its destination of Tynda, Russia.

In a reaction to the loss of contact, local authorities launched a massive search operation, involving all available resources and emergency teams.

Domestic media sources have since cited that the plane wreckage was found, its fuselage on fire.

"Emergency services said they had located the site of the crash approximately 15 km from the destination. Rubbish and signs of fire were seen from a helicopter that had been sent out in response to the accident. Ground rescue workers are making their way to the crashed aircraft now," reported Russia Today.

Authorities have yet to provide any official reports on casualties or injuries.

According to Reuters, the flight had 43 passengers, including five children, as well as six crew members.
