Russian President Vladimir Putin has addressed the recent tragic terrorist incident at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow, attributing it to radical Islamists, yet numerous inquiries persist.
Putin asserted during a meeting on counterterrorism measures that the perpetrators were radical Islamists, aligned with an ideology historically challenged within the Islamic world itself. While the individuals responsible have been identified, focus has now shifted to uncovering the masterminds behind the attack, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Despite efforts by the United States to disassociate the attack from any ties to Kiev, Putin underscored lingering uncertainties. He emphasized the importance of addressing critical questions, such as whether extremist Islamic groups harbor genuine intentions to target Russia, a nation advocating for a just resolution to the escalating Middle East crisis.
Moreover, Putin questioned the motives behind the terrorists' attempted escape to Ukraine following the assault in Crocus, urging an examination into who awaited their arrival.
Describing the attack as an act of intimidation, Putin highlighted the necessity of identifying those who stand to gain from such violence.
In addressing the investigation, Putin emphasized the imperative of conducting it with the utmost professionalism, objectivity, and devoid of political influence, despite the prevailing urge to bring the perpetrators to justice.
