Worldwide famous for his character appearances in popular Korean dramas such as Reply 1988, Love in the Moonlight, Encounter, and When Life Gives You Tangerines, actor Park Bo Gum has won hearts across the globe.
Now, the favorite star has made it known that it is his deep desire to travel to India and connect with his fans personally.
Bo Gum is set to appear in the highly-anticipated Prime Video series Good Boy, an action-packed drama that follows elite athletes transitioning into law enforcement through a special recruitment initiative.
During a recent media roundtable, the 31-year-old actor was asked to share a message for his Indian fanbase, who have consistently supported his work. Responding with warmth and a touch of Hindi, he said:
"To my Indian friends, dhanyavaad (thank you). Is that correct? Thanks for your love and support. I wish to go to India. I don't know when, but if I get an opportunity to visit India, I really wish to meet and greet you guys. I hope so. Thanks a lot. Dhanyavaad."
Aside from his fondness for his Indian fans, Bo Gum also revealed that he's willing to work in an Indian project—preferably a musical.
Having fulfilled his mandatory military service last February 2022, Bo Gum is now excited to accept new and challenging roles. He described his creative drive by saying:
"I am interested in things that are fun to read.". I believe I'm interested in those kinds of stories that make you think and those kinds of stories that you can discuss with your family members after you watch it with them together. After completing my military service, I find that there are more stories that I wish to tell and more roles that I wish to play. So beginning this year, I’m going to really do my best to tell the most number of stories I can and also take on the most number of roles that I can.”
In Good Boy, Bo Gum plays Yoon Dong-ju, a medal-winning boxer who has a gold medal under his belt. He is acted opposite Kim So-hyun as Ji Han-na, a top shooter. The supporting cast also includes some familiar figures from the South Korean entertainment industry, such as Lee Sang-yi, Oh Jung-se, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok.
Bo Gum revealed that Good Boy is his first screen outing after finishing military duty. In preparation to ably play his physically demanding character, the actor did more than six months of rigorous training.
I actually practiced in actual boxing with physical contact. And I also exercised a lot because I needed to increase my muscle percentage. I remember when we were on location and set, we would exercise together, and I actually learned a lot from these guys (other members of the cast)," he revealed.
When asked to compare himself with his character Gwan-sik from When Life Gives You Tangerines, Bo Gum mentioned similarities in the way they live.
"If I had to compare the two characters, Gwan-sik and Dong-ju, what is alike with the two of them is that they are always action-oriented and they are highly proactive. They also both know how to deeply love one person, and they both also have a highly healthy mindset," he said.
Good Boy will premiere on Prime Video from May 31, with fans waiting impatiently for Park Bo Gum's long-awaited comeback on screen.
