Progress in Gaza Truce Talks in Cairo, but Some Issues Remain Unresolved: Media Reports

Negotiations conducted in Egypt to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip have made significant headway, although some contentious issues remain unresolved, according to reports from Egyptian media.

According to an unnamed senior source quoted by Al-Qahera News TV channel on Wednesday, discussions persisted from 10 a.m. with major consensus reached, however some points of contention still remained.

Egypt has been working assiduously to keep the wheels of the negotiations oiled, impressing upon all parties concerned the danger of escalation, and the need to be committed to the peace process, the report said.


Earlier in the day, Al-Qahera also reported that "Egypt is ready to deal with any eventuality."

On Tuesday, Egypt hosted delegations from Hamas, Israel, Qatar, and the US to work out a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza.

The Israeli military embarked on an operation in Rafah late on Monday night, which has hosted more than a million internally displaced Palestinians since Israel's October 7 of last year offensive.
