Police Capture Suspect in Killing of Indian National in US

According to reports, authorities in Texas, USA, have arrested a suspect who was involved in the tragic killing of a 32-year-old Indian national, Dasari Gopikrishna, who had just moved to America. The event happened during the time of the robbery at a convenience store in Pleasant Grove, Dallas, on June 21. According to the police, Gopikrishna, a native from Yajali village in Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds inflicted by 21-year-old Davonta Mathis, now booked for capital murder charges.

The actions that Mathis took were very troubling for Sgt. Curtis Phillip of the Mesquite Police, considering his young age. Mathis is also said to be suspected of killing a 60-year-old called Muhammad Hussain, who succumbed to gunshot wounds in another fatal shooting in Waco on June 20th.

Presently, the Indian consulate is trying to repatriate the body of Gopikrishna to his family in India and expedite procedures with the help of the TANA and local Telugus. The consulate has completed all the formalities, and the body will likely be dispatched by Tuesday.

The news of Gopikrishna's sudden death came as a shock to the Indian community who are living in Dallas and surrounding areas. He is survived by his wife and child.
