India is committed to making every effort in this direction, as also to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Ukraine further."

The two leaders decided to maintain an open line of communication. Zelenskyy also tweeted on X regarding the call, thanking Modi for his "warm words of encouragement" for the people of Ukraine.

"I had a long phone conversation with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. We spoke at length about all significant matters – both our bilateral collaboration and the general diplomatic environment.". I would like to thank the Prime Minister for his kind words of solidarity with our people. I reported on Russian shelling of our cities and villages, on yesterday's strike on the Zaporizhzhia bus station, where dozens of citizens were hurt as a result of a deliberate Russian bombing of a routine city infrastructure. And this is when there is finally a diplomatic prospect of stopping the war. Rather than proving itself to be ready for a ceasefire, Russia is proving only its eagerness to carry on the occupation and killings," declared Zelenskyy.

The President of Ukraine announced that he and PM Modi agreed to organize a one-on-one meeting in September at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and arrange exchange visits.

“It is important that India is supporting our peace efforts and shares the position that everything concerning Ukraine must be decided with Ukraine’s participation. Other formats will not deliver results. We also discussed in detail the sanctions against Russia. I noted that it is necessary to limit the export of Russian energy, particularly oil, to reduce its potential and ability to finance the continuation of this war. It is necessary that all leaders with concrete leverage on Russia send the respective signals to Moscow. We coordinated the planning of a personal meeting in September at the UN General Assembly and the implementation of an exchange of visits," Zelenskyy said.

Earlier, on Saturday, India had hailed the announcement of the imminent summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin to be held on August 15 in Alaska.
