3,150 rockets fired from Gaza: Israel Army

About 460 of the rockets never made it across the border and went down in Gaza territory, dpa news agency quoted the military as saying. The Iron Dome missile defence system had an interception rate of about 90 per cent, it said. There were initially no current figures on the number of attacks by Israel in the Gaza Strip this morning.
Czech President Milos Zeman accuses Russia of 'stupidity' over 'unfriendly' label

"The Russian side is committing stupidity because it is a mistake to turn former friends into enemies," DPA news agency quoted the President as saying to the radio station Frekvence 1 on Sunday. He pleaded that if friendship was not possible, "at least correct relations" should be restored. Under Moscow's decision, the Czech Republic may only employ 19 Russian citizens in its embassy in Russia.

Global Covid-19 caseload tops 162.7mn

In its latest update on Monday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 162,768,855 and 3,374,593, respectively. The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 32,940,229 and 585,967, respectively, according to the CSSE.
Afghanistan fighting resumes as ceasefire ends, over 30 killed

Over a fourth of EU adults 'unlikely' to get Covid vaccinations: Survey

Young adults between the ages of 35 and 49 were slightly more sceptical about the vaccines than their younger or older peers.
Covid deaths in Canada linked to dementia, Alzheimer's: Report

The brain disorders were the most common comorbidity among women (41 per cent), while among men, it was the second most common comorbidity at 31 per cent, CTVnews.ca reported citing a new report from Statistics Canada. "Of all Covid-19 deaths in 2020, dementia or Alzheimer's was reported on 36 per cent of Covid-19 death certificates," the report said.
Pro-Palestinian protests held in major US cities

In the capital Washington, D.C., hundreds took part in pro-Palestinian protests on Saturday, marching from the Washington Monument to the US Capitol, reports Xinhua news agency. Also on Saturday, thousands of people rallied in Los Angeles in support of Palestinians.
