Global Covid-19 caseload tops 181.7mn
In its latest update on Wednesday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 181,750,422 and 3,936,463, respectively. The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 33,651,870 and 604,457, respectively, according to the CSSE.
Canada's Covid-19 deaths likely double official data: Report
Up to date, Canada has reported a cumulative total of 1,414,158 Covid-19 cases, including 26,238 deaths, the Xinhua news agency reported. The report, titled Excess All-Cause Mortality During the Covid-19 Epidemic in Canada, suggests that largely racialised communities and essential workers were the ones who died at home and going unreported as Covid-19 deaths.
US Covid-19 vaccination slows down as Delta variant infections climb
The 7-day average number of administered Covid-19 vaccine doses per day has decreased by 55.3 per cent from the previous week, according the latest weekly report of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). About 46.4 per cent of the US population is fully vaccinated against Covid-19, and 54.2 per cent of the population has received at least one shot as of Tuesday, the Xinhua news agency reported.
Moderna says its Covid-19 vaccine shows promise in lab setting against variants
The results came from vitro neutralisation studies of sera from eight participants one week after they received the second dose of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine, the Xinhua news agency reported. The vaccine produced neutralising titers against all variants tested, including additional versions of the Beta variant, scientifically named B.1.351 which was first identified in South Africa.

India-Abu Dhabi flight suspension extended till July 21: Etihad
In a reply to a query on Twitter, Etihad said: "We were expecting some updates regarding the travel ban extension which we just received few moments ago. I can confirm that the ban is not lifted yet and has been extended until 21st of July. Our website will be updated shortly." The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) had earlier clarified that passenger flights between the Gulf nation and India will remain suspended until further notice.
Israeli FM lands in UAE for 1st official visit
